Transition effects provide a bridge between two or more images by applying a motion effect that defines how the pixels of a source image yield to those of the destination image. Although this section contains figures that provide a sense of what each filter does, it’s best to actually use the filter and see it in action. Most of the transitions have subtleties that can’t be appreciated by looking at a still image.
When a transition effect is applied to live video, it includes a parameter for the destination image. With recorded video, the default destination is the same video. However, if you want to set a target image for recorded video, hold the Option key while applying the transition effect.
